Lions Club of Worle Show

We arrived at Magor Services early and were greeted by Darren in his 1983 Ford Granada and noticed that he had a passenger strapped in the passenger seat. On closer inspection I discovered to my horror that his passenger was yet another Eeyore. After a few choice words from me and a big thanks from Sylv it was time to make our way to Worle.

Some 40 minutes later we turned into the venue which was a very large field with 3 stalls being set up and 6 cars in a line. Immediate thoughts were “what have we let ourselves in for.” As it was only 0945hrs and the show was not open to the public until noon, we parked up and waited in hope. A nice touch of arriving early was that the organiser, Mr Keith Palmer, greeted the majority of the exhibitors and spent some time with each of us.

The sky was thick with black clouds, but other stall holders and cars started to arrive and by mid-day there were around 15 stalls, some raising money for charity and a few others with table-top sales. Unfortunately no auto jumble. There was now in excess of 40 vehicles including a Ford Model T , Morris Minors, Triumphs and just the two MGB GT’s. We breathed a sigh of relief as the field filled up quite well. As this was only the second show in Baytree Road it was looking pretty good and could only improve in the coming years.

Throughout the day there was a Fancy Dress Parade, a 7-A-side football tournament by the Mendip Girls Football Club, Children’s & Adults Races and live music.

Come 1600hrs it was time to pack away after we had received our Exhibitor Certificates.

The sun was now shining, so before heading home we decided to have a “cruise” along Weston’s seafront and Brean Sands stopping for a cuppa at Darren’s parent’s caravan who made us very welcome. Thanks, it was nice to meet you.

In all a pretty good day enjoyed by many.
