Kington Show
15th-16th August 2009

Three cars met up on the Saturday at Pontypool Harvester and made our way to the show, calling at Abergavenny to meet Tony Flynn. As we got towards the meeting point at Abergavenny Tony was nowhere to be found but did eventually catch up with us going towards the town in his new Roadster. Having regrouped, with Sylvia now in with Tony, we made our way with Tony in the lead. As we made our way along the route Tony’s satnav had a bit of a hissy fit and decided to veer off
on to the wrong road. Fortunately the rest of us took the right road. After a couple of miles we decide to pull over and wait for Tony to catch up. Once he caught up, he took the lead, which was a mistake as we ended up going through lanes and narrow roads but eventually made our way to the show. After two hours driving we made it to the show.
Once we pulled onto the field we were shown to our spot, which was large enough to accommodate the cars which were coming up on the Sunday. At this point we put up the gazebo and the flag. During the day the weather was rainy on and off, the field was half full of classic vehicles, there were stall holders and plenty of food vans. There was plenty to see in the area, plenty of displays. It was nice venue to walk round and plenty of people enjoying themselves. As
time went on Tony, Brian and Sylvia decided to pack up and head home, leaving Kingsley, Vanessa and I to camp overnight.
On Sunday 9 cars met up at the Harvester and they had an uneventful trip. They were escorted into the show and lined up and set up their chairs and tables etc. Approximately an hour later Carl, Bob, Louis and Chris arrived and managed to park alongside us. Steve did well during the day, he sold his leather flying jacket to Tony (with a bit of persuasion from Angie - she said it would go well with his Stag). As this was the main day of the event, the whole field was
packed full of classic cars and stalls. The weather during the day was somewhat cooler, no rain.
After another eventful day of classic vehicles around the arena and the odd cup of coffee and ice cream it was yet again time to head home.
