The show was held in St Roses school and as we did this last year it was not hard to find the way. Meeting at Hurrans at 8.00 am was a bit of a shock to the system on a Sunday, but we had a good turn out. 14 cars were there when Phil and I turned up, two more cars followed us and we set off picking up two more on the way.

When we arrived at the show there were 17 cars and it took a bit of moving about to get us in a nice line of two rows. Some were in E row and some in D row - it never takes a lot to confuse us and this was no exception. We ended up nose to tail and after the shuffling nobody wanted to change it. With bunting at the front and rear, two flag poles situated each end and our banner facing the main show we looked pretty good.

The day was spent lazing around talking to whom ever wanted to talk and having the odd walk around the show looking at the other cars and there were quite a few of them to see. Kingsley chose the car for the GMGOC car of the show and chose an Austin Seven van that seemed different from the run of the mill classic car you always see. It was done up very well and the livery on the van was unusual.

This week we had about four Triumphs with us and the British Leyland Metropolitan and I must say these were all admired by the people walking around. I think that the Vitesse ...admired as to how it stays together (kidding).

As the afternoon came and the announcer started to call out who had won we all said that we had not won anything as we were not told before hand. But, hold your breath and wait for it, he suddenly said “And for the second year running it’s the Gwent MG Owners Club. A great cheer came for us all and Sandra went to collect the cup - see Photos.

At the end of the day after we packed away we talked about which way we were going home. Some wanted to go through Gloucester and some wanted to head back along the M5, M4 the way we came, so for those who never wanted to travel along the motorway it was decided to go around and stop for a drink on the way. That was when disaster struck for an Austin Healy sprite gear box got stuck in first gear (something to do with the selector. Don’t ask me). Bob got it free and we were on our way, then we split up by accident. Them that never went along the motorway went for a drink. All of the drivers wanted coke but some of the passengers had something a little stronger. Lucky them.
