We met at Forge lane at 8.00am, eight cars in all and we set off. On the way we picked up Richard and Lorraine. It was my turn to take the lead and I got the usual stick for turning off at junction 45 instead of junction 42 so I kept as quiet as I could until it had died down.
When we arrived we lined up along side all the other cars as it is not guaranteed that you will be together unless you arrive together. In total there were 14 from our club including Lester who is a new member. We had two gazebos and quickly put them up, but we never had the bunting as they are a bit heavy for Phil’s car. We attached the flag poles to the gazebos and it looked very good.
The weather was fine very sunny and we all sat about talking. It seems that every time we set up for a show it’s different. This time all the tables were in a line inside the gazebos and we set off. Some of the Ladies and I say that loosely went to the beach for a paddle and whilst they were there the sky came over very dark so they headed back. As soon as they got back the sky opened and we had a downpour. Richard had put a for sale
sign on his car and that got soaked but it never lasted long.
Tony was chosen to pick a car that he liked and chose a Morgan that although was too new to be called a classic was a nice car. Louis came in his MGB that had just been re-sprayed harvest gold and I must say it was stunning. Tony came in his new MGB that he had just bought and there were a lot of heads under the bonnets with points being gained and lost for what the gang could find right or wrong with it. Bob, Louis, Tony and Carl
came after us so they were in another row, but I could see they were enjoying themselves.
Some of us went on a bus ride to the Mumbles. We stopped at a Pub and sat outside and the children went to play in the park. It was a great day and for some reason it's one of the shows I really like. Back at the cars we had a walk around the Auto jumble. I think there were only two or three stalls, the rest were selling things like model buses or photos of buses. There were a lot of buses there. Some were really amazing with their
gleaming paint work. There were heavy road haulage vehicles and cranes; you could say something for everyone.
We split up on the way home some going back along the Neath bank, others going along the M4. Richard and Hayden shot off and we never saw them again leaving us well behind. I went back in Phil’s car and we overtook Tony, Francis and Adrian. That pleased Phil as his car has now done about 1000 miles since his engine re-build
