We met at Forge Lane at 9.30am. Seven cars turned out and we never knew what to expect as we had never done this show before. We took the scenic route to the show via the M4 and around the houses following our beloved Chairman. When we arrived we were directed to our spot. It was a little cramped but not too bad.
As the cars pulled up most of the women went to the coffee stall and after the drinks they hit the shops. There was a lot of interest in the cars and I was surprised how many people stopped for a chat - more maybe than at a regular car show.
We should have known better having a car show in the middle of a shopping centre. I have never spent so much at a show as I have today as the girls came back loaded up to there teeth. I can never understand why women with prams must squeeze through the small gaps in-between cars, when it is easier to go around. Why do parents let their kids put their grubby hands all over the
polished cars and if you say don’t touch they look at you with daggers..
The weather was great and although we had a few drops of rain not enough for the soft tops to put their hoods up. Tony left a bit earlier than us and we did not know if he was missing his missus or joining the Cardiff club. Maybe we will find out at Barry tomorrow. We were each given a plaque for turning up. GMGOC car of the show from me was a Humber Sceptre -

I was talking to the guy that organized the show and he said he had about 50% attendance. Whilst he was talking I was thinking if the other half had turned up where would he have put them all and a little smile came over my face as I thought, “ That would have upset the lot with prams”.
As we made our way home I was thankful that the wife could spend no more money - it’s the only time I have helped her into the car and if I could have locked her in I would have done it a lot earlier, so saying farewell to everybody we set off home.
