Malvern Show

13th April 2008

The day started at 8.00am at the layby just before the M50.There were seven cars and Phil’s everyday car.  The rain was coming down in buckets as we headed off but everybody was hopeful as this was the first show of the year. Some cars were missing. Richard and Lorraine had their wedding anniversary party the night before and he had guests staying over. We all went and it was a great evening and we all enjoyed ourselves. Others still had unfinished projects on their cars to complete.

The ride up was uneventful, but there was a dispute as to what speed we were traveling at. Chairman in front with his MGA maintains that he was traveling at around 50-60 while the others said they were going at 70. I was behind Keith and was also going at 50 to 60.

When we got there we had to report to the red gate but were re-directed to the brown gate so we all turned round and went back to the brown gate. Once inside we filed into one of the three large buildings that were connected to each other by large canvas halls. In all there were four levels of showrooms, some showing cars, others for trade stands. Lucky for us we had no Triumphs with us because our cars were on carpet and you know what Triumphs are like for leaking oil.

Soon the sun was out and it turned into a glorious day, very warm, ideal for them who smoked as they could go outside and smoke. The usual banter was bandied around with poor Beryl getting the most of it. Phil had a good day picking up a a distributor cap, starter motor and a contact for a spare engine for his Sprite. At 16:00 we collected our attendance plaques packed everything away and headed home.

On the M50 there was a hold up when Keith overheated and had to stop for a while and we arrived home at 18:00. Car of the show for me, which I may add was not on display, was a MG RV8. On the way home it rained but it was a really good day.
