For all those who never came, you missed a really good day, for all those who did go, wasn't it awful? You can organize most things but not the weather. We met at the Crown pub at 8.45am. First to arrive were Sue & Geoff followed by Francis & Beryl. Last to arrive was Hayden who turned up in a new Vitesse with a white roof so as he turned the corner Bryony said "it's Hayden". "No its not" we all said, "It's not his car" and this went on until he opened his
door. We were all surprised - no rust - it was very smart. When Phil turned up you could see all his teeth or what he has left. He was grinning from ear to ear. All his hard work and money had paid off and his car was running well after its engine re-build and he had the top down and a borrowed alternator had got him on his way at long last after weeks of tears and anxiety. He is on the road to recovery, and so is the car.
Pulling into the show left us all a little bemused as we were not told where to park. There was some moving around until we were happy. There were not very many cars on display, but you can put this down to the rain as it was coming down very heavy. The stalls mainly consisted of tools and there were quite a few burger vans - too many really. Brian turned up in his Ford Popular. This was his maiden show, but it turned heads, it
looked good and was a great talking point with many of the public.
Sue made burgers and most of us had some - at least they warmed us up. For the kids there were bouncy castles, quad bikes and inflatable slides. It would have been great in the sunshine. I spoke to a couple of people who were sitting in their 1934 Austin 10, telling me that they had driven it around France and most of Spain. The car was stunning as it never had a mark on it and this had to be the car of the show for me.
This car show could be very good and has a lot of potential but needs a bit of tuning up. There were vans with trailers getting stuck on the grass and vans with trailers getting stuck between the classic cars. In the end the MG club unhitched the trailer and pushed the trailer to safety. This was because he had not been told where to go. Children in Sinclair C5's driving between classic cars. We left early because of the weather - cold, wet and a little tired. We live so close to the
show that my engine had not warmed up by the time it was ready to be put in the garage.
