Barry Festival of Transport

Well, what can I say? 14 cars turned up for the trip to Barry. We took a rather scenic route but got there in the end, lined up and by the time we had got into position we had grown to 17 cars.  We were slower putting the flags up mainly because of the hard ground. One member pulled out a seven pound club hammer so up they went (funny what you find in a boys pocket).

There were a lot of cars for such a small site and they looked good around the site from pink Cadillacs to 1956 Ford Prefects from Rolls to Three Wheelers, but I hardly had time to look. There were old buses, Bikes , Scooters, and hot rods.

There was a free bus, classic of course, that took us to the beach, which was a shame as it is usually a train, but we were on the top of the bus and the girls broke into song starting with summer holiday. I was looking for Gary Lineker, people who I can't mention were throwing things at Richard - it was more like a School bus.

First stop the beach and the sea. It was so cold even the fish were getting out it was That cold. Hayden went in up to his shins and said that parts of him were shrinking - I don't know what he means. Only Bryony a young girl of 11 went up to her neck, back on the sand and in the cold wind. We stayed long enough to make one sand castle and retired to the chip shop.

After chips, on to the fair, the only thing that changes there is the price but to be fair ( I made a pun ) they have not changed for the last two years. Sue lost her glasses on the log flume, I got a soaking on the same ride, but the kids had a great time. It was here that the batteries in my camera went flat and I had not taken one picture of a car. If anybody else has please send them in.

Then it was time to go back to the car show. Most people came away with a nice tan (Sue burnt). Back at the show we had coffee and started to pack away. This is a good show because you don't stop. Car shows have little to do with cars, more the People, the getting there and the getting home in that order. The only thing you need is the weather and we had it today.
