Wedding Escort

14th April 2007

We were asked by one of our members if we could put on a car display for his daughter's wedding, as she was a big fan of old cars. Of course we said we were up for it and the arrangements were made.

Meeting at the bride's house at 12 o'clock, 10 cars arrived all kitted out in fancy ribbon and with bows on the front. The bride walked down to the cars in a Champagne dress which had a train in the same material. She looked radiant if not a little nervous. Her car was going to be the MG YB which she travelled in accompanied by her mother. The bridesmaids travelled in MGB GTs, so that their hair did not get blown all over the place. They looked beautiful in their brown dresses with pink shawls.

As the Dad was travelling in his own roadster eleven cars left Ebbw Vale on the way to Abergavenny. At the church we dropped everybody off and made our way to the Castle where we parked up on the grass and after only three attempts of getting in a kind of semicircle some photos were taken. It was hot as we stood around in our suits and bow ties waiting for the Bride & Groom to return to the cars for some more photos. Then the wedding group had their photos taken and this was our cue to leave.

Four cars went to the Harvester in Pontypool for a meal and a natter then we set off home. This was the first time we had done anything like this but it went really well - even the weather was good to us on the day. All that's left to say now is we all wish them the very best for the future.
