Yes, this is the big one, the one we have been waiting for and talking about all season. It is so close to home that there was no point meeting up to go in and as each club was given a good size pitch we decided to meet there.

By the time I arrived the cars had started to line up, they looked good all facing toward each other with a large gap down the middle but as the people viewing the cars would walk down the outside this was the wrong way. I had driven down in the chairman's third car, a left hand Black roadster and as I got out of the car to unhitch the trailer the shout came to quickly turn the cars around. I ran back to the car, jumped in and realised I had no steering wheel, I had jumped in on the wrong side. This gave everybody a laugh as I retold the story.

We set up the large gazebo up one end, with the cars coming away at a slant on both sides. It looked really good and as Phil lined up each car with the precision of a Swiss watch, I must say we all felt pleased with our efforts - 22 cars lined up, it was impressive to see.

As a thank you to members, for there loyalty over the past year, the club decided to pay for the food on the day and this started off with bacon rolls. So that went down well and set us up for the long walks around the many stalls and the 1000+ cars that turned up on the day.

There were things going on in the arena - auctions, children's rides, and boat rides. At 1300hrs the girls started the BBQ sausages, burgers coffee and quite a few bottles of wine were consumed and I hope nobody went hungry as there was plenty left. Still wanting to do more we saw boat rides around the lake, so we went on the boat ride at 1430hrs.

The weather was good all day but started to rain as we left. Cloudy in parts with a lot of sunshine in between so we could not complain. All too soon it was time to collect our plaques and pack up to go home. The car I came in had a flat battery and needed a push and after a couple of phone calls Richard and Francis came back to help (bless them). Can't wait for next year.
