We met earlier than usual at 8.30, which was a bit of a shock to the system, but quite a few turned up and we went in a spread out convoy down to the Liberty stadium, stopping at the services to put the hoods up. Richard proved that a hood can take as long as twenty minutes to put up. There were 10 cars on the way down, one turning off at junction 42 instead of 45, but he got
there in the end. Coming off the M4 the lead car missed the turning so everybody went around the round about twice.
When we got to the stadium we were directed to the car park and managed to find a large pitch using the disabled bays, as the car show was in the car park. We parked near a couple of signs so this is where we attached the flag poles. The car park was tarmac and after standing for most of the day our feet were very tired.
At the start of the day it rained and we stood under the gazebo like penguins, but in the afternoon the sun came out and it was really hot. It's a good stadium and the facilities were very good. but as a show it was not as good as last year, when we were not only on grass but were also near the sea and it made a very pleasant walk. This year there was not that much to do. Some of
the girl's radar was working well and they spotted a retail park. That was it! They got so many bottles of wine they could have been in Calais. It was fun watching them get slowly sloshed, if slowly is the right word. Beryl was trying to make tea and could not get the water in the kettle and trying to remember who wanted what was a nightmare for her.
The show came to an end with the gift of a model car as an attendance plaque. On the way home we split up, arranging to meet next week.
