The party was held in a club in Caerphilly, Gwent. We all had to be there at 6.30- 7.15, before Richard, because it was a surprise 60th Birthday party. The hall was full by the time he arrived and was pushed through the door. The look of shock on his face was classic and the party poppers were on target hitting him until he could barely see.

The evening started with a version of THIS IS YOUR LIFE. There were friends from all over, some from Dubai, Holland, Ireland and from all over Britain. As there was a screen in front of the stage showing photos of Richard from a very young age to the present time, that he could not see but we could, you could understand the look of confusion on his face when we all laughed.

The evening continued with a wonderful buffet and a disco. Keith proved he has still got what it takes dancing with five ladies at a time, It was a cross between Fred Astaire and John Travolta and he never stopped all night. Phil soon found that the beer was cheap so was at the bar quite a few times, but knew when he had had enough as he could not reach it anymore. Everybody had a great time and it must be said that the organising skills of Richard's family was something that he can be very proud of. So for the last time Richard I hope you enjoyed your birthday as much as we did.
