Eleven or twelve Cars turned out for the fairly short journey to Pencoed College car show. Phil was the lead car and the pace was a steady 50. It was raining as we left Forge Lane, but it soon stopped. Nothing went wrong on the way down until we were nearly at the college - then we found a roundabout and we just had to go around it twice.

When we arrived we were shown to a fair size plot - enough room to erect two gazebos. The tables and chairs were put up under the gazebos, although there were no sides on them, flag poles were tied to the biggest  one, bunting at the front of the cars with a space for any late comers.

The wind was strong and cold - it was like a knife cutting through anything you wore. This must be the coldest show we have been to, but it never put off the public who came around in droves. The children had a good time, going on the rides and bouncy castles. There was a man doing magic tricks and juggling and a brass band played not far away.

Beryl and Francis had salad, but the wind blew the lettuce off the plate. As Phil uses a vacuum's pipe to hold up his bonnet, Richard put a sign on it stating Hoover spares and the part number. This made everybody laugh but it took Phil quite a while to spot the sign and nobody would tell him. Some of the members stayed in their cars as it was too cold to sit around, but spirits were high and as we were all under the gazebos we were all close enough to have a good natter. I must say that we were pleased when the time came for us to depart on our journey home, leaving as soon as we could.
