Kington Show

We met at Pontypool Harvester at 8.00am, that was a real shock to the system on a Sunday. Leaving on time 9 cars set off, but when we got to Raglan roundabout one car shot off for Hereford whilst the others made the mistake of following Richard's sat nav - we should have known better. The route was very scenic as we rambled along, making phone calls to each other to wait as the Traitor found himself in the outside lane when we all turned left.

When we eventually arrived at the show we found a good spot and lined up back to back. I started to put the flag poles up before I realised I did not have the flags and no bunting, but our large sign was attached to the gazebo and we soon had the tea on.

There was a small auto jumble, a car boot, and other stalls to walk around whilst the Jazz band played in the arena, Later there was a dog display in which the children took part and also Karen and Bezz. Somebody squirted water over the two Ladies to make out it was the dogs. Beryl had wet hair and Karen got a wet back, but it was all in fun.

As for the cars there were not as many as the last two years. This was down to the weather. Although it was not raining it was cold and windy like a day in January. The car I liked most was a bubble car called a Heinkel, as I remember getting stuck in one when I was a kid, as it had no reverse gear and we parked close to a wall with the door which opens at the front facing the wall. Whoever I spoke to had a story to tell about their cars - how they had done them up or the parts they had managed to get hold of.

The entertainment went on all day and the vintage and classic cars paraded around the arena. On the way home we all split up. Bezz went back to the Harvester for a meal (nudge, nudge, wink wink, say no more). I still say the best part of going to a car show is the journey there and back. This is what I remember most.
