Assembled at Hurrans Garden Centre at 8.30am (there was a little confusion as some members still thought it was 9.00) and we eventually left in a convoy of 12 classic cars. The journey seemed quite short with Steve leading the way.
On arrival at Weston we soon sorted out our own patch (at first we were told to park on the tarmac but as we had old Richard with us he soon arranged for us to move down to the corner of the field on the grass - better for his old feet I think! We are getting very professional at putting up the bunting and flag pole (see the gallery). Soon
tables and chairs were set out and everybody was ready for a natter.
The weather started out cloudy and windy, and some were grateful they had their coats, but by about mid-day the sun came out and it was very hot.
At 13.30 the dog show started and one of our members got a first, second and third all with the same dog which was laden down with rosettes {fiddle!!}
During the afternoon the men in the group had their heads under the bonnets of every car they could get their hands on and many discussions took place with "Oh! you've got one of them" or "so that's what its like" and such like.
The children went for donkey rides - it would not be the seaside without a ride on a donkey. Walks around the town were taken by many of us and as the beach was so near buckets and spades were out to enjoy.
Early evening was creeping upon us so sadly the time came for us to pack up and head for home which was a shame as the company was great but all good things must come to an end and after saying farewell we jumped in the cars and set off home. Just after we had taken the second corner we came to a halt as an X reg orange GT had broken down. This
was the men's real chance - here they were with something that was broke - "let's try the point's" one called - they ended up to be electronic - "must be the HT lead" another shout rebounded around - no it was not that as we had a spark. Soon it was found to be an earth wire to the petrol pump. With a new piece of wire and a bit of ticky tacky the car started and we were on our way again.
So with a convoy of seven cars (five taking a different route) we proceeded to the M5 (very busy but traffic was flowing) and we soon got back home to Wales.
