GWENT MG OWNERS CLUB

Club Barbeque at Tintern Railway

13 cars turned out for what was a fabulous day. Including children there were about thirty people. The weather was really hot so some dived for the shade of a row of trees.

When we arrived an inspection of the station's BBQ was very rewarding as they had installed a new one and there was a sign on it which read BBQ reserved. So along with the ones we took there were 5 BBQs on the go. As normal the women took the back seat and let the men do the cooking but you can bet that they had a hand in the preparation of the culinary delights. Never had such an array of different foods been cooked all at once, from the usual banger to the King prawn kebabs.

Half way through the day Beryl and Keith played Nursery rhymes which was Jack and Jill, but with a difference as Jill tumbled first and Jack, not to be out done followed her, as they both fell out of their chairs. I am glad to say that both Jack and Jill never broke their crowns.

Some of the members went for an afternoon stroll as it was so nice and some regretted it as it was so hot. The bunting looked good as we had cordoned off the area where we were. The new flag was present but the lack of wind made it hang instead of fly. The afternoon went quickly and it was soon time to leave, so after cleaning the Station's new BBQ and ensuring that the fires were out some said their farewells and headed home, while others stayed for the final cup of tea.
