We met at the Harvester in Pontypool at 8.30am. Nine cars turned out. Hayden seemed to have problems with his steering as we watched him go round the roundabout twice, but he got there in the end. We set off in a convoy with Mike leading and it took
about an hour to reach the Three Cocks field. Our position was high on a hill top and the wind made it hard work to get the flags flying at one point. It was a bit like the joke, "how many men does it take to screw in a light bulb". The weather was very cold and with a strong wind it made it hard going, but the bunting was up and soon we were settled in our respective positions (around the kettles).
There was quite a bit going on with a dog display team doing tricks, a Punch and Judy show, and various steam engines doing their own things. The auto jumble was disappointing - mainly things for tractors. Keith purchased a body saw and he insisted it was not going to be used on Sandra. A Triumph joined us not long after we set up and slotted in very well. The day was spent walking around to vintage and classic cars -
this was mainly to stop us freezing on the spot. Most of the MGs were together with the Cardiff club in front of us and a few who were on there own lined up with us.
Soon it was time to go home which sounded great as it was to a hot bath to warm us up. On the way home it seemed as we all took different ways and our paths crossed more than once. On reflection one could say a good day if not a little cold.
