Everybody arrived at the Harvester, Pontypool (11 cars) although some confusion from the Triumphs as to which Harvester roundabout. Haydn’s fault of course. We arrived at the museum at 10.15 and we were parked at the back on a nice grass verge. Most of us descended upon the wooden cabin station café where we kept warm with cups of tea to pass the time of day whilst the weather was poor outside. The museum is well stocked with artefacts from past
railway times. A couple of coaches which housed various displays were parked outside. Fortunately we missed the rush -1,000s according to the SW Argus - must have been on Saturday.
We planned to have Lunch at the Open Hearth Pub situated on the bank of the canal and many of us took a short walk, some a long walk, to have lunch. We all tucked into Beef and Beef: dressed up as lamb (private joke). Many of us enjoyed the frozen ice cream profiteroles ……………
The rain just continued and continued as we ate Lunch, and afterwards we all walked back to pick our cars up from the rain soaked show. Us old uns had a few problems on the way home with condensation on the windscreens but the wives soon sorted that out with their spare hankies.
SEE YOU IN A MONTH FOR OUR NEXT EXPEDITION.
