Nine cars met at the Crown Public House in Pontllanfraith at 10am for the short journey to the Blackwood show ground. On arrival we were placed in a line behind another row of cars and it was so tight we hardly had room to move between the cars. Soon another row of cars were placed in front of us - now I know how a sardine feels like. All cats were safe as there was no room to swing them. A complaint was made by one of the committee
members and we were assured that next year we would be moved to a better position.
Having said this it did not spoil the day, because there was so much to do and see. In the arena was a dog show, hot air balloons being filled and tied up, clowns and a trampoline act. The side shows were good. At least two of the children had their photo taken holding snakes ( better them than me). The fun fair was big with loads of rides and stalls.
We could not put up the gazebo as this was not allowed and we could not put up the bunting because of lack of room, but the flags were flying and put up very fast. none of the flags were tangled as they were put on the poles before being secured by a car wheel - much better.
We all had a free sandwich and a packet of crisps with a token and a plaque with another token - no token, no plaque.
Five O'clock came and it was time for us to enter the arena. Comments were taken about each car and the funniest came from Hayden - how his suspension gave the girls a smooth ride. This was due to the fact that he had two ladies in the back. After our trip around the arena some cars went home and some went to the car park.
